At the start of the trading week, the U.S. stock market saw a downturn, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping over 100 points by Monday morning. This decline reflected a broader dip in the markets, with the Dow falling by 0.34% to 38,951.34, while its tech-heavy counterpart, the NASDAQ, dropped slightly by 0.13% to 16,253.77. The S&P 500, encompassing a wider range of companies, also experienced a decrease, slipping by 0.12% to 5,131.69.

In terms of specific sectors, industrial shares showed resilience, with a modest increase of 0.3%. However, communication services did not fare as well, with shares declining by 1.3%.

In corporate news, Sea Limited reported a successful fourth quarter, surpassing sales expectations with a total revenue of $3.62 billion against estimates of $3.53 billion, despite posting a loss for the period. On the other hand, BioVie Inc. saw a significant drop in its share price, which fell by 41% after announcing the pricing of a public offering. Another company experiencing a downward trend was Astra Space, Inc., with its shares plummeting by 35%.
