Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff Offers Jobs to Former OpenAI Researchers

Published November 21, 2023

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has reached out to researchers who have recently left OpenAI, inviting them to join his company's artificial intelligence platform, 'Einstein'. In a post shared from his X account, Benioff encouraged these former OpenAI employees to send their resumes to him via email if they are interested in exploring opportunities with Salesforce.

Shift in OpenAI's Leadership

Following an internal review process, OpenAI's board announced on Friday that Sam Altman has stepped down from his position. The board stated that Altman no longer had their confidence to continue leading OpenAI. U.S. media reports have speculated that Altman might start a new AI company or even return to OpenAI, while some OpenAI employees consider resigning if Altman is not reinstated as CEO.

Further Developments and Employee Ultimatum

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reported that Altman would join Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team. This move comes amidst demands from OpenAI employees for the current board to resign. They threatened to leave the board and join Altman at Microsoft over perceived inadequacies in the board's judgment and care for the company's mission and staff. A letter addressing these concerns was signed by the majority of OpenAI's employees, indicating severe dissent within the company.

Amidst the upheaval, Benioff's proposition represents a significant opportunity for those disenchanted with the recent events at OpenAI.
