Strengthening Security Ties
President Yoon emphasized that this visit will be a cornerstone for building a new system of cooperation in the security domain between the two nations. According to him, the collaboration will also revisit and possibly revise the existing Korea-Britain free trade agreement, aiming to boost supply chain and trade cooperation.
Broader Horizons in Science and Technology
The scope of collaboration is expected to extend beyond just security, with South Korea and Britain looking to expand their partnership into science and technology sectors such as artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, biological sciences, the space sector, semiconductors, and clean energy.
President Yoon spoke of the shared values between South Korea and Britain, namely freedom, human rights, and the rule of law, suggesting that these universal values form the basis of their strong economic and trading relationship.
Recognizing Contributions and Shared History
The President expressed his gratitude to the Korean community in Britain for their role in fostering strong bilateral ties.
