Hyundai Motor Group Implements Access Restrictions on DeepSeek for Employees
SEOUL, Feb. 7 -- Hyundai Motor Group has taken action to restrict its employees from using DeepSeek, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) service from China. This decision has been implemented due to concerns about possible data leaks associated with the use of this AI service.
On Wednesday, Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. issued an internal notice to their employees working at the headquarters in Seoul. The notice stated that access to DeepSeek would be blocked, emphasizing the organization's commitment to information security.
The restriction is not only limited to Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. but also extends to other divisions within the Hyundai Motor Group. This includes companies like Hyundai Mobis Co., Hyundai Wia Co., and Hyundai Glovis Co..
Company officials have indicated that similar restrictions on DeepSeek will soon be implemented across the group's overseas operations, reflecting a broader strategy to safeguard sensitive data in the wake of growing concerns.
The move by Hyundai Motor Group follows similar measures adopted by various government agencies and other companies in South Korea this week. The decision arises from heightened fears regarding data privacy risks connected to the Chinese AI service, which have increasingly become a topic of concern in the current technological landscape.
This proactive step by Hyundai underscores the importance placed on protecting company data and maintaining the integrity of their information systems.
