Finance Sector Leaders

Manulife Financial Corp., a prominent player in the finance industry, saw its shares climb by 45 cents. This 1.53 percent increase brought the share price to $29.78, with a robust trading volume of 6.8 million shares. TC Energy Corp. shares were up by 27 cents or 0.51 percent, closing at $53.36 on 4.2 million shares traded.

Mining and Retail Sector Updates

In the mining sector, Generation Mining Ltd. maintained its ground, closing unchanged at 38 cents on a trade volume of 4.4 million shares. On the retail front, Metro Inc. reported a drop of $1.11 or 1.56 percent, ending the session at $70.10. It reflected on its first-quarter earnings with a profit of $228.5 million, a slight decrease from the previous year, but with an impressive 6.5 percent increase in sales.
