Cantor Fitzgerald Expands Tech Investment Banking with New MD Appointments

Published March 8, 2024

Cantor Fitzgerald is reinforcing its commitment to technology sector deals by bringing on board seven new managing directors in key markets across the United States and the United Kingdom. These appointments are part of a larger initiative to enhance the bank's engagement with mid-market technology deals.

This strategic move includes the recruitment of nine veteran bankers specializing in the tech sector. Cole Bader was appointed as the global head of technology investment banking in the previous November, and over the recent years, the firm has added 25 bankers to its ranks.

In an effort to strengthen its presence in the technology, media, and telecoms sectors, Cantor Fitzgerald's London office has welcomed Ben May as a managing director. May brings extensive experience from his 12-year tenure at Berenberg where he led the division.

The New York team gains new expertise with Mark Baillie focusing on software and Stephen Butkow working on industrial technology deals. Both are among the recent hires transitioning from their respective roles at Stifel.

Bryan Dow has taken up the managing director role in San Francisco, where he will concentrate on industrial technology deals, bringing his experience as the former co-head of electronics and industrial technology at Stifel.

San Francisco also greets Jason Harkness from Barclays and Karan Kapoor, both appointed as managing directors with focus on internet, related software deals and software deals, respectively.

Expanding the team further, Cantor Fitzgerald has Mike Rosso, joining from SVB Securities, as a managing director in the private placements unit, as well as two new directors, Eduard Keller and Austin Swank, to bolster their capabilities.

Chairman and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, Howard Lutnick, emphasized the firm's drive to develop its investment banking services in areas where it can have a significant impact. The newly expanded technology banking team is intended to support a wider range of clients and facilitate their growth and financial strategies in shaping the tech industry's future.
