The Love Story of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang: From College Pick-Up Line to Tech Giant

Published December 2, 2024

Nvidia Corporation NVDA CEO Jensen Huang recently shared an inspiring story about how a simple pick-up line in college not only led to his marriage but also became part of his remarkable journey in building a $3.38 trillion AI chip company.

How It Began: During a recent talk at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Huang recounted meeting his wife, Lori Huang, while studying at Oregon State University (OSU) at the young age of 17.

As the youngest student in his class, Huang wanted to impress Lori and decided to use his youthful looks to his advantage. He approached her with a bold proposal: "Do you wanna see my homework?"

He cleverly suggested that they study together every Sunday, promising that this collaboration would lead to her achieving straight A’s. This study arrangement turned into a recurring date that brought them closer together.

Ambitious Promises: By the age of 20, Huang made an ambitious vow to Lori, promising that he would become a CEO by the age of 30. He later admitted, "I had no idea what I was talking about" as he shared this story.

Five years after their initial meeting, Huang and Lori got married. Shortly thereafter, he co-founded Nvidia in 1993 and achieved his goal of becoming CEO by the time he turned 30, just as he had promised.
