Bank of Montreal Can Secures New Position in SPDR Portfolio Emerging Markets ETF

In a recent investment move, Bank of Montreal Can has initiated a new position in SPDR Portfolio Emerging Markets ETF, trading on the NYSE Arca under the ticker SPEM. The transaction came to light through the mandatory reporting to the Securities & Exchange Commission via a Form 13F filing. Bank of Montreal Can's portfolio now includes 8,172 shares of the ETF, with an estimated value of around $291,000.

Institutional Interest in SPEM

The ETF has witnessed varying degrees of interest from several institutional investors. Moneta Group Investment Advisors LLC, for instance, increased its holdings significantly in the last quarter, reaching a colossal 203,176,699 shares valued at an astounding $6.7 billion. Similarly, LPL Financial LLC grew its stake by 16.1%, owning 8,962,675 shares worth over $308 million. Allworth Financial LP and Ameriprise Financial Inc. were not far behind, enhancing their positions in SPEM by 8.1% and 70% respectively. The former now holds 7,734,994 shares, and the latter sits on 4,751,061 shares. Portside Wealth Group LLC has also entered the fray, establishing a new presence in the ETF worth approximately $157,663,000.

SPEM’s Market Performance

The ETF’s share price started at $34.97 on a noted trading day. Over the past year, SPEM has seen a low and high of $32.06 and $36.44 respectively. Its market capitalization is recorded at $7.48 billion, with a price-to-earnings ratio of 10.59 and a beta of 0.68. When it comes to trend analysis, SPEM has a 50-day moving average of $33.53 and a 200-day moving average of $34.18.
