Engineering Students Find DeepSeek More Reliable

Hyderabad: OpenAI's ChatGPT has long been the leading name in artificial intelligence and a favored tool among students. However, it has recently faced competition from DeepSeek, an emerging AI platform from China that gained attention last week, causing significant fluctuations in the stock market for high-tech companies.

While ChatGPT remains dominant in the fields of communication and language-based content generation, DeepSeek has made strides in areas such as coding, mathematics, and science. Engineering students from private colleges have noted that DeepSeek often outperforms ChatGPT in addressing technical questions and solving coding challenges.

Students, often dependent on AI for navigating complex subjects like programming, data structures, and machine learning, have reported that DeepSeek yields more precise answers for specialized topics compared to ChatGPT. These students utilize AI not only to resolve problems but also to foster creative solutions. Nevertheless, when choosing between ChatGPT and DeepSeek, many have expressed a preference for the Chinese chatbot concerning technical queries.

T. Vishwanath, a computer science engineering student at a private college in Hyderabad, conveyed, "ChatGPT provides good general information, but for specific coding issues, DeepSeek tends to deliver more effective solutions." He further elaborated, "ChatGPT sometimes offers outdated or incorrect code, requiring me to clarify issues multiple times before getting a functional response. In contrast, while DeepSeek can also make mistakes, those errors are far less frequent, and I typically receive a working code within two to three prompts."

Another engineering student, Priyansh Goud, shared his experience using both AI platforms for debugging code. He stated, "When I asked ChatGPT to identify an error in my Python code, it responded with a solution that didn't work. However, DeepSeek pinpointed the exact mistake in my code and even suggested an alternative method, saving me a lot of time."

Even with the advantages presented by DeepSeek, certain students still favor ChatGPT for particular tasks, particularly those involving creativity. Priyansh noted, "For writing reports and generating creative ideas, I still rely on ChatGPT. It excels at interpreting natural language and provides innovative responses."

As AI chatbots continue to evolve, the development of new tools by companies and developers is expected to enhance users' capabilities, leading to increasingly detailed and accurate results.
