Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff Offers Jobs to Former OpenAI Researchers

Published November 21, 2023

The Chief Executive Officer of Salesforce, Marc Benioff, has extended a job offer to researchers departing from OpenAI. Benioff indicated through his account that the AI researchers who have left OpenAI could find new opportunities working on Salesforce's artificial intelligence platform, named 'Einstein'.

In a strong appeal, Benioff encouraged those departing from OpenAI to email their resumes to him directly, signaling potential employment prospects within his company.

The board of OpenAI announced on a recent Friday that Sam Altman stepped down after an internal review. The statement included a lack of confidence in Altman's ability to continue leading OpenAI.

Speculations in the US media suggest that Altman might start a new AI firm or possibly return to OpenAI. Reports also noted that some OpenAI employees were considering resignation if Altman wasn't reinstated as CEO.

Meanwhile, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that Altman is set to lead an advanced artificial intelligence research team at Microsoft.

Employees at OpenAI had demanded the resignation of the current board and threatened to leave the company and follow Altman to Microsoft, OpenAI's largest investor.

A letter signed by the majority of OpenAI's staff to the board expressed their unwillingness to work with those they consider lacking in competence, judgement, and due diligence, undermining the company's mission and its employees.
